It was a pleasure to meet with Hungarian Ambassador to the UK Ferenc Kumin last week. We talked about international affairs, energy security and how Hungary and the UK can continue to develop our strong relationship.
It was good to talk to Andrew Marr on LBC about the new Conservative Party leader and incoming Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. We discussed Rishi’s plans to build a broad coalition of beliefs in government and his plans to tackle inflation.
As I told BBC News, I think the public will warm to Rishi Sunak because he does not pretend there are simple answers to complex questions. He will be honest with the country and tell us how it is, and that’s exactly the sort of government we need to see right now.
As I told Sky News this afternoon, I am delighted for Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party and most importantly the country that he is our new leader and PM. What we need is a period of calm and competent government, something Rishi will provide.
The Conservative Party was elected in 2019 on a manifesto that we still have to deliver on for the British people. Rishi Sunak offers calm, confident and competent government at a time of huge international disruption, which is why I’ve supported him from the beginning.
Great to see the latest improvements to the bespoke elephant facility at Noah's Ark Zoo Farm today. Wonderful to see how well our animals can be treated. Also, good to hear about their innovative opportunities for young people and partnership with Weston College.
I went to see Portishead Lake this morning following letters from residents and children concerned about the lake and water quality. I look forward to hearing the Council’s plans for improvement.
