A freezing night for my regular constituency surgery, the last one of 2022 (although I am still holding virtual appointments throughout the next few weeks)! Tonight’s surgery was in Nailsea. I will continue in 2023 to hold surgeries across North Somerset as I have done for over 30 years!

Small businesses are at the centre of the UK economy. That’s why it was great to celebrate Small Business Saturday at Eat Festivals in Nailsea today, where more than 80 local producers were present.
Overlooking North Somerset Council’s plans for Clevedon seafront, it is clear that the changes being made will cause major risks to public safety. The whole thing has been the worst thought out program I have known in my 30 years as an MP for North Somerset.
For decades, people have been able to drive and park their car right on Clevedon Seafront, enjoying a nice view out to sea and easy access to the local shops. All of this is going to change as North Somerset Council persist with their ridiculous plans to construct a cycle lane.
We all understand the need for an updated electricity transmission system. However, this system must be balanced against the interests of those whose land will be affected by these updates. That is the purpose behind The Electricity and Gas Transmission (Compensation) Bill.
